B33R Community—Budgies

B33R Community on location…Budgies!

Opened due to a genuine love for burritos and yearning for them everyday, Budgies has been a Mount Pleasant staple for nearly 11 years now. Flashbacks of the brewery floor often covered in Budgies wrappers during our own creation, come into mind as we take a moment to chat burritos and beer with owner/operator Macey Budgell.

Experiencing the burrito scene while visiting Cali, helped drive the creation of Budgies, and burrito tours are sources of inspiration and ways to keep the menu varied and full. Macey points out Budgies isn’t just about the food, but the team.  “Everyone’s super pals and a lot of care taking happens between the staff, which is genuine. Everyone has a deep weird that connects us all.”

Quite fittingly, Macey’s first encounter with 33A was with 33 Acres of Sunshine. “Refreshing, clean, no sign of hangover the next day… I was down.” She recommends their famous Johnny Oh burrito with Ocean and the nacho special as a great go-to with Life.
