Inspired by the sun – everything from the colour pallette and decor down to the food. Hey Kokomo loves Summer and believes in it being a state of mind, not just a season. All of their food is 100% plant based so you can have a full meal, but feel light enough on your feet afterwords to do whatever you need to with your day – whether it’s the beach or back to the office. Not something a lot of places can claim. They’ve managed to do this without sacrificing any flavour so that you’re left satisfied. Many of the bowls are inspired by dishes you’d find in warmer climates such as the Acai bowls from Hawaii or Laksa from South East Asia (theirs made with zucchini noodles). Something seems to be working as they’ve recently opened up a 3rd location in North Van with the other two being in Chinatown and Kitsalano (where we visited). Coming in hungry we ordered the following 2 dishes:
Golden Laksa Noodles: coconut turmeric broth, rice + zucchini noodles, ginger pickled carrot, broccoli, cucumber, green onion, cilantro, sunflower cracker croutons, lime
Kokomo Mac & Cheese: Brown rice pasta, creamy cashew + squash sauce, roasted broccoli, crispy leeks, cracker croutons.
