33 Eats: Koerners Pub

It’s a bit off the beaten path but that’s part of what makes Koerners Pub what it is. Going as far west as basically possible on either West 4th or Marine drive the pub is located just off Chancellor blvd as you enter the UBC zone. Catering largely to students, tourists, and wreck beach sunbathers they’ve got a large patio among BC’s old growth trees that rivals any of those found on the busy urban streets. The kitchen has slightly reduced their menu during covid but what they’re best known for, the tacos, are alive and well along with a daily special. If you’re looking for a short drive and an out of town experience, but still remain in the city come see these guys.

We stopped in for lunch and had to get their tacos, 1 of each:

The Tinga : Free range chicken, chipotle adobo braise, cabbage, onions, cilantro, fermented coconut nectar aioli.

The Zo Zo (100% vegan) : Smoked sweet potato, toasted pumpkin seeds, cabbage, pickled onions, fermented coconut nectar aioli, cilantro.

The Nuni’e : Wild Haida Gwaii smoke salmon, rhubarb relish, chèvre goat cheese, cabbage, cabbage, onions, rmented coconut nectar aioli, cilantro.
